In 1981, a young couple bought a storybook, 4 bedroom house in North Cambridge/Davis Square, that, like the cities around it, was in need of tender loving care. They renovated it in true Design Research style (the 1970s mecca for contemporary furnishings and decor) taking advantage of every inch, including the top floor with its light, bright and cozy rooms. At the heart of the house was its kitchen, where they lived, worked, and hung out together â precisely the theory behind todayâs popular kitchen/family room plan. And, outside was a magical backyard, full of opportunities to play and garden. Today, their close-knit North Cambridge neighborhood has one of the hippest destinations in its backyard, and they have launched two wonderful children. 16 Locke St. has sheltered them across the arc of their lives and provided safe harbor in an ever-changing world. Now that they are moving to NYC, it is available to do the same for someone new.
